My First Hybrid Project

I finally finished my very first hybrid project!! I feel very proud of myself right now.

As you all know, I have never paper-scrapped before for many reasons. First of all, materials are very limited. It has only been recently that our local bookstore started offering scrap booking materials. But the choices are very few and leaves a lot to be desired.

And a new baby in the house -- and breastfeeding at that -- has already eaten up much of my already limited time. (Not that I'm complaining, though. I am loving every moment with our cute little Liam.)

Plus, paper scrapping is so final that it scares me. Whenever I do a layout digitally, I change my mind lots and lots of times before I am satisfied with the way it looks or the deadline has approached.

Finally, paper scrapping seems so messy and tedious for me. The glue, the paper cuttings, having to spread out the materials and then putting them away afterwards...

However, I still love to try paper scrapping because it really is different when you get to hold a finished page and touch the elements.

That's why when a hybrid challenge was offered at the Digital Freebies blog, I jumped at the chance and tried it.

Here's what I did...

The brads, eyelets and other small elements are from the bookstore. The flowers are from an old hair clip (scrunchy) I found laying around. The garter was already worn out so I did not hesitate to cut out the flowers from it. :)

Ashley, my daughter, helped me with this. Since I was planning on giving her the book when it was done, I thought that by asking her help then she would get to enjoy the book more. When she would show it to her cousins and grandparents, then she could say she did herself.

As much as I enjoyed making this project, I probably wouldn't do another one for a while. Maybe I could do a greeting card or invite first. Simpler projects that I could finish in a day. :) The brag book took me two weeks!

Well, this post has been long enough. Come back tomorrow for another free template from me.

See yah!
